The Review
Japan has been busting out stories that evolve romance between a vampire and a human long before Twilight was ever heard of. It's one of the more common anime shows that target females. In my opinion, it's a hit and miss when it comes to this kind of genre. You never know if the show will be worth your time or turn out to be just another carbon copy.
For being a half season anime, the show does a pretty decent job showing the character development of it's main characters. You have a verity of issues that arise and are solved without feeling rushed. Things like forgotten memory, craving blood, and learning how to be part of the student council. There's even a mystery thrown into the mix.
Although the show involves vampires, they don't seem to be the traditional type. It seems like everyone is trying to cash in on Blade's unique characteristic as a day walker. At least these vampires don't sparkle and actually suck blood.
All in all, the show proves to be entertaining even though it doesn't supply the viewer with anything new or different. I can't say it's a carbon copy, because I personally don't watch these sorts of shows. However, I can say without a doubt why most females love this kind of stuff. It really does have an interesting concept and you can do so much more with it than a normal romance story.
