The Review
The title to this anime is far too long to continue referencing it, so for the sake of this review, it'll be shorten to Samurai Girls. The name may have the word samurai in it, but it's quite misleading. There's not really much samurai action going on.
The most noticeable characteristic of Samurai Girls, is the way it looks. The artwork throughout the show is done in ink format. Each character has a bold outline making them stand out from the watercolor backgrounds. I've never seen this done with anime before, so I find it quite interesting.
Although the artwork is unique, the storyline is not. The concept of ancient warriors being reincarnated in the modern world has been done quite a few times now. It doesn't help that all the warriors are females who at some point fall in love with the main character. A harem based story is probably one of the most done type of anime.
If you're not into random boob and panty shots, then this anime isn't right for you. It's got so much fan service that it cancels out anything serious Samurai Girls might offer. Even the characters who are suppose to be pure eventually show up naked at some point in the series.
The fighting is the best thing it had going for it and it wasn't even done correctly. Given, the fight scenes are awesome. However, having the characters do the same move, but calling it different names every time doesn't make it too exciting. I'm still not sure how a simple kiss can cause the character's powers to rise. I'm sure it would have been a lot better, if the show wasn't rushed to fit into a half season time slot.
