Original Opinion
I've heard a lot about this game. It seemed like every single person I talk to has played it. I felt left out and finally found it for sale. I had to have it. Instead of buying food, I bought this and it's sequel. Went home and started my epic adventure to kill the God of War.
Graphics
The graphics are really well done. The levels are massive and very well done. There's symbols everywhere and really makes the player feel like they're really in Greece. I also felt the cut scenes were really nicely done.
Battle System
It's a hack and slash system. You running around with twin blades that are hooked to chains. As you upgrade them, you'll learn new moves. Swinging them around and slashing up enemies is insanely awesome looking and a lot of fun. There's power moves that will freeze the game for a short amount of time, before coming into contact with the enemy. This alone makes it worth playing.
Storyline
Kratos blames a lot of things on the Gods of Olympus, but after thinking about it for awhile, I realized that most of the things were his own fault. He's really the only one to blame. However, the storyline is quite interesting and makes you wanna find out what happens. I'm glad there's sequels, and I hope that someday I can play them to find out more about Kratos.
Music
The music in the game is really well done. It's intense and sounds like everything you do is just... godly. There were a few times when awesome battle music would play, when there were no enemies, because I had already killed them in the area. It's not an issue, but I would think the game would not start the music unless an enemy was actually near by.
Puzzles
If you're going to play this game, you gotta love doing puzzles. This game is filled with a ridicules amount of them. Most of them are not very challenging and you can figure them out almost instantly. However, there are quite a few of them that are highly annoying either because you have to do it multiple times, or you mess up at the very end and have to restart the entire thing.
Aries, the God of War
I would like to say that Aries is a bitch. Fighting him is a pain in the ass and all the work you did through the entire game is all for nothing. You do not get the chance to use any skills, abilities, magic, or weapons during the final fight. I find this concept retarded and almost ruined the entire game for me. He has all your moves, his own moves, and all you have is a stone sword. Good luck.
Final Opinion
The game was awesome to play. I only had a few problems with it. Such as the camera getting stuck and not being able to see what I was doing. You can't control the camera and it really was a pain in the ass through the game. I also had problems with the fact that there was a ton of different things to do with the same buttons. Sometimes the game would do one thing, when you really wanted to do another. However, the game is worth playing. It has a lot of good qualities to it. I wouldn't say it's the best game and I do think it was overly hyped. In the end I suggest this to anyone who likes adventure games and Greek Mythology.
