Graphics
Whenever I play a new gaming counsel, I'm always surprised by how great the graphics look. As usual with a Capcom fighting game, the stage backgrounds are beautifully detailed and animated. They give the stage an almost 3D feel to it. The characters are nicely done and so are each of their specials.
Storyline
It's a fighting game, so there's not much of a storyline. However you do get an ending depending on who laid the final blow in the last battle. So far, in the handful of character endings I've seen, none of them make much sense and are poorly done.
Music & Sound
The music is nicely done. Each character has their own theme song which plays when they're doing really good. There's basic music for each stage. Each character talks and some of them are pre-programed to talk to each other before the battle. Such as X-23 and Felicia will do a quick back and forth right before the battle if both of them are team leaders.
Number of Selectable Characters
The back of the case claims there are 60 characters, but you really can only choose from about 40. There's two downloadable characters and about six characters you unlock just playing the game. Adding those to the 30 or so starting characters, it doesn't really give you the 60+ they promised. I also read on Wiki, that a handful of characters were removed, because it would have raised the rating of the game. I don't actually know how they would effect the game rating. Characters like Nemesis, Fantastic Four, the dude from Dead Rising, and Silver Surfer were removed. Maybe they're add them back as downloadable, but it doesn't seem like that will be any time soon.
Final Opinion
All in all the game is insanely fun. I played it with a group of guys at a friend's house, so I had a lot of fun playing with everyone. The arcade mode was fun, but the endings suck. We switched it to the hardest mode and made it to the 5th level before Wolverine showed up and had insane combos. I recommend this game for all those who love fighting games and/or plan on having days when they have a group of friends over who enjoy gaming from time to time.
