Full Movie Review
Genres: Science Fiction, Mystery, Adventure
Plot Summary
After New York City receives a series of attacks from giant flying robots, a reporter teams up with a pilot in search of their origin, as well as the reason for the disappearances of famous scientists around the world.
Original Opinion
I originally went and saw this movie on a "date" or whatever you want to call it. I was with a girl and we weren't going out. I was like a young teenage boy and didn't know what I was doing. Anyway, I walked out on the movie. I didn't like it at all. Years later, I rented it just to see if my older self would like it.
Animation/Special Effects
Awesome. The entire movie was filmed in less then a month. Of course the digital parts took about two years. This movie is 90% CGI, so if you're not a big fan of it, I wouldn't recommend watching this.
Character Development
None. There is no development of characters. Wait... The two main characters fall in love at the end of the movie, but they were in love years before the movie takes place, so does that count? There's no chemistry between them through the entire movie and it just randomly happens.
Soundtrack
I don't even remember. I'm sorry, but the female news reporter was so annoying that I kinda tuned out most of the movie. I'm sure the soundtrack is decent. I would just Youtube it and then do this part of the review, but I wanna move away from this movie as soon as possible. I want to see something good to help me get rid of my disappointment.
Original Media
This isn't made from any comics. Why do a review on it then? It's highly inspired by comic & graphic novels. It looks like a graphic novel movie. Some of the characters are based off of comic book heroes from the same era. Even the science fiction parts of the movie are based off of the old science fiction found in the comics and movies during the 40's. Figured it fit with the rest of the movies I've been doing even though there isn't an actual comic.
Final Opinion
The news reporter ruined it. She was such an annoying bitch. Now I remembered why I walked out on the movie the first time. I really couldn't stand her and there's just way to much CGI for my taste. It's different and cool, but there's so much that the movie almost feels empty. The plot is super thin and not much going on. I found it really boring. It was a nice attempt, but I really couldn't stand watching it. I found myself tuning out any scene that had the female news reporter talking. I also got sick of the shots of the top of her camera showing that she only has two shots left. If she was never in this movie, I probably would have enjoyed it. I don't recommend this movie and I hope I never have to watch it again.
