The Review
The opening to the series is an evil death metal song. It prepares you for what to expect throughout the show. Soichi's goal is to be a pop singer. He spends his free time playing his guitar on the street corner, hoping to get noticed by some big shot. The problem is that his pop is too over the top nice. However, when he's dressed up as Krauser, he's as famous as you can possibly get. His death metal lyrics are over the top evil, but the fans love it.
Speaking of fans, Detroit Metal City's fanboys are some of the most entertaining characters I've ever seen in an anime. They are true fans who believe anything Krauser says and take everything he does to heart. In fact, they're such hardcore fans that they even convince themselves of things he's said or done that never actually happen.
As the series continues, Soichi finds it harder and harder to play both roles and they soon start to merge with one another. It's obvious that he has a serious split personality problem, but it might be his only chance to be known throughout the world. Of course, his sanity might have to be sacrificed in the process.
The ending song to the series is a lovely pop song. It's the complete opposite of the opening song and shows you just how extreme both his personalities are.
