The Skill Tree is something that still needs a lot of work. I haven't gotten around to creating different magic abilities for the player to learn. For now, there is nothing but blank skills that serve as place holders.
I have a lot of plans for this skill tree mechanic. I want a verity of different types of trees for each of the characters and I want it to be setup, so that different types of players can build their characters differently. Hopefully, without having the characters become too similar to each other by the end of the game. I see that happen a lot with video games. By halfway through the game, you're just using characters based on if you like them more than the others, instead of their abilities in combat.
Do you see the numbers located under each of the skill icons? That tells you the current level of the skill and the max level it can have. Each point you put into a skill will increase it's effectiveness, damage, or healing by 10%. You only need one skill point in a skill to move down the tree. However, there is a limited number of skill points you can obtain during the game, so keep that in mind when choosing what skills to spend them on.
