Plot Summary Infinite Stratos (IS), a weaponized exoskeleton system, has become the dominant tool of warfare and conflict. Unfortunately for the men in society, only women are able to operate Infinite Stratos…with very few exceptions. One of those exceptions is Ichika Orimura, an orphan raised by his older sister, who is herself a famous IS pilot. When his compatibility with Infinite Stratos is discovered after he accidentally touches one at the age of 15, he is given a scholarship and enrolled in a school that specializes in training IS pilots. Which means an interesting life surrounded by girls for this shy, unassuming boy. (Summary provided by ANN and AniDB) |

The Review
From the plot summary alone, the show sounds really interesting. With such a big build up in the explanation, it'll be hard to go wrong with this one. At least that's what I was thinking before I actually watched it.
The setting is every straight man's dream. Who wouldn't like a chance to go to an all girl's boarding school and be able to pilot a mecha while attending? Though, I can see some complications arising. Mostly due to all the females being sneaky bitches who start drama over everything.
Almost every main character is introduced as a villain. It's all due to the fact that they're secretly working for some corporation who thinks their mecha is far superior to their opponent's. Yet, they still need to send a spy into the school to try to see what the other companies are up to. This is a highly repetitive back story and gives the show a somewhat lack of creativity.
The show provides a decent amount of entertainment, but lacks an in depth plot. Other than the harem setting and the mystery mecha, there isn't any other plot development going on. The show ends and leaves you with the feeling that something was missing. Something you can't quite point out, but it's there.
