The Review
Finally another anime that's about zombies. With the recent hype on the subject, I'm surprised there isn't a lot of anime based around it. Then again, Japan is really superstitious. The subject might be a taboo with some companies.
There's a lot of fighting for a half season. I almost wish it was longer, so the fight scenes could have had more detail. There's nothing better than seeing a vampire, necromancer, zombie, magical girl, and monster fighting it out in a middle of a graveyard.
Fighting isn't all that the show has going for it. There's quite a bit of comedy and interesting plot twists. With so many types of worlds and separate character stories going on, the show itself really needs to be longer. It's so hard to balance the fighting, romance, and the day by day life of Ayumu all in only 12 episodes.
Ayumu may be the main protagonist, but Yuu holds the real key roll. At some point the story starts focusing on her instead of Ayumu. Some might see this as a way to create character development, but I felt differently. The story really starts to revolve around Yuu as you learn more about her. She holds quite a big secret.
On a less note, what's with this company and their need to do chibi ending scenes. So far, every anime I've seen from Studio Deen has had an ending in which the main caste is shown in chibi forms. Did anyone else notice this?
