The Review
When it comes to stories based on music, the anime tends to be a better choice over the manga. For one, you can actually hear the music and if done correctly, offers a good chance for the company to make money from a soundtrack.
One of the things I liked about the anime was the intro. As new characters are introduced, small edits are made to show them in the intro. To me, this shows the dedication of the creators and is usually a sign that the overall anime will be good.
The animation wasn't bad, but it there were times when the scenes were a bit blurry. This wasn't very noticeable unless you paused the show at the correct time. I'm not entirly sure why they did this, but I'm guessing it's because their focus was on the music aspect and not the animation.
This series does an excellent job showing the characters getting better with their instruments. The better they get the more excited the show becomes. It's not all about the music though. They do have quite a bit of Slice of Life themes that help the storyline flow. It's just done so well that there's no surprise to how large the fan base is.
