The Review
This is the first time I've seen an anime where the intro was not animated. It's footage of what appears to be random clips from the live action drama version of this series. It caught me off guard at first, but it's nice to see a different form of media being used.
Although the plot summary makes his childhood friend sound like a main character, he kinda just blends into the background. In fact, he's removed completely from the episodes until right before the end of the series. They do mention him and the main character does attempt to call him a few times, but I was excepting him to play a bigger role then he did.
This series is extremely random and is packed with actual real information on agriculture related things. I wasn't sure how I felt watch the series. I think I only continued to watch, because I was hoping it got better, but sadly, it never did.
One of the biggest disappointments in the show is the fact that Sawaki never does anything with his ability. He can see, touch, control, and communicate with microbes. Yet, he doesn't put this ability to use. Well, other than seeing strains that would cause some kind of illness. They hint throughout the show at the possibilities of his powers and never do anything with them. It was a real let down.
